College Sports Madness Announces Baseball Awards

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – College Sports Madness has announced the 2013 Madness Baseball Summit League All-Conference Teams by selecting players that have made significant contributions to their respective teams this past season. Clay Hathaway earned first team honors while Jason Kalber and Kevin Wirth were each selected as second team honorees.
Hathaway was tabbed as a first team selection by College Sports Madness after being selected to the second team by the Summit League. He started at shortstop in all 54 games for IPFW ending the regular season with a .289 batting average. Hathaway led the team in at-bats (190), runs (30), hits (55), triples (3), total bases (85), slugging percentage (.447), and most times hit by pitch (12). He was tied for the home run lead (5) and was also second on the team in stolen bases (13).
Kalber had one of the best ERA's on the team at 3.16. He ended the year with a 2-7 record on the mound after starting in 14 games. The left-hander led the team with five complete games including one shutout. He tossed 82.2 innings and ended the regular season with 61 strikeouts. Kalber's 14 starts in a single-season ties him for first place all-time at IPFW. His 82.2 innings pitched also has him ranked eighth all-time.
Wirth earned second team honors as a utility player. The junior spent time at third base, in the outfield and as IPFW's designated hitter. He ended the year with a .252 batting average (33-for-131) which included seven doubles and five home runs giving him a team-high 22 RBI's. Wirth posted a .420 slugging percentage and a .299 on-base percentage. He ended the regular season with 18 runs scored and 55 total bases.
