FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- IPFW Athletics announced its annual award winners at the 2016 Masty Awards Sunday night at the Rhinehart Music Center on campus in Fort Wayne. An evening of celebration with the Mastodons marked the successes of our student-athletes achieved during 2015-16.
Mr. Kent Hormann (NBC33/21Alive), recently inducted into the Indiana Sportswriters & Sportscasters Hall of Fame, served as Master of Ceremonies and was joined by Director of Athletics Kelley Hartley Hutton throughout the evening, highlighted by the presentation of this year's Male and Female Athletes of the Year awarded to graduate student Max Landis and freshman Olivia Coleman, respectively.
Landis started all 33 games he played in for the men's basketball team and averaged 19.3 points and 3.7 assists, shooting 45% from the field, 46% on three-point field goals and 81% at the free throw line. He was the team leader in 12 statistical categories, including points (638, 2nd-best all-time), three-pointers (125, a new season record), assists (121) and minutes (1228).
