FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne women's track and field program has added Palngji Sunday as an assistant coach.
Sunday comes to Fort Wayne after serving at Wright State University as an assistant coach since January 2016. He developed and implemented training plans for the Raiders. Sunday had 14 student-athletes finish in the top eight at the Horizon League Championships. He also coordinated travel for the program.
"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Sunday into the Fort Wayne track and field family," head coach Ashley Botham said. "It was clear early in the hiring process that our coaching philosophies matched up well and his emphasis on person before athlete makes him a perfect fit for our program. I have no doubt he will help our sprinters, jumpers and hurdlers excel both in the classroom and on the track."
He was previously the head boys and girls track coach at Coldwater (Ohio) High School. There he organized and managed home meets and developed and implemented training plans and practices.
Working with short sprints, Sunday was also part of the Heidelberg University coaching staff in 2012-13 that was recognized as the Ohio Athletic Conference women's coaching staff of the year, with six athletes earning All-OAC honors.
Certified as a USATF Level 1 Track and Field Coach, Sunday also has experience as an assistant coach (short sprints/cross country) at Iowa City West High School.
Sunday graduated from Wartburg College in Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Fitness Management and a minor in Business in 2011. He was all-conference in the 1600 meter relay three times while at Wartburg.
