Gebhart was a two-year captain on the basketball team at IPFW in 1975-76 and 1976-77 where he scored 416 career points while pulling down 200 rebounds. His biggest contributions to the school came after graduation, where he has worked at IPFW for 32 years, twenty of those in the Athletic Department.
During his time as an administrator at IPFW, he served in many roles, including Associate Athletic Director for Operations, where he served as tournament director for three NCAA Division I Men's Volleyball Tournaments (1988, 1994, and 2000), while the 1994 tournament attendance of 15,495 still ranks as the second-best attended Final Four in NCAA Men's Volleyball history.
“I'm honored, humbled, and a little awestruck by my selection to the IPFW Athletic Hall of Fame,” said Gebhart.
