Matt Hein was a three-year letterwinner on the IPFW men's soccer team. In 1999, Hein was named an NSCAA First Team All-America. He was also named the 1999 Great Lakes Valley Conference Player-of-the-Year. Matt helped lead the Mastodons to its only GLVC Conference Championship. During the '99 season, the `Dons made it all the way to the Elite 8. It was Matt's goal in overtime that beat Truman State. In 1999, he was drafted by the Utah Freeze of the World Indoor Soccer League. Hein continues to be active in local soccer, coaching Fort Wayne Citadel Soccer's U10 boys and girls.
