Ryan Steinbach played for IPFW from 2004-2005, and is one of two IPFW players to have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft when he was picked in the 20th round by the Baltimore Orioles. He played in the Baltimore system for two years, splitting time with the Class-A Aberdeen Ironbirds, the Class A Delmarva Shorebirds, and the Class A Frederick Keys.
During his two years at IPFW, he sported a .345 career batting average, the sixth-highest career total in program history, while his .442 on-base percentage is third-best all-time. In 2005 he was named to the All-Independent First Team, and to the All-Academic Team.
