'Dons Take Two at Michigan

Ann Arbor, MI - IPFW defeated the Rice Owls and New Hampshire Wildcats to finish the Michigan/Nike Invitational 2-1 on Saturday. The Mastodons defeated the Owls 3-2 and the Wildcats 3-1. Junior libero Peachy Jankowski and sophomore middle hitter Jessica Miller were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Mastodons improve to 8-8 and break their three match losing streak with the wins.
IPFW v. Rice
IPFW defeated Rice, 30-24, 30-22, 28-30, 27-30, and 15-12 in the afternoon match of the day.
Five 'Dons hit double figure kills for the night. Cynara Martins led with 18, she was followed closely by Amanda Pfister with 17. Jessica Miller chipped in 15 while Rebekah Roehm had 11 and Claire Jackson hit 10 kills.
Peachy Jankowski led in the dig department with 25. Martins dug up 21 and Pfister had 14. Jessica Dominiak added 53 assists for the contest.
In the blocking department Roehm and Miller each had four block assists for the match.
Rice was led by Karyn Morgan and Tessa Kuykendall each with 18 kills. Rachel Lopez chipped in 54 assists while Kristina Dennemann dug up 20 balls.
IPFW v. New Hampshire
The Mastodons kept the intensity going, taking down UNH in four, 25-30, 30-19, 31-29, 30-24.
Martins and Miller each had 12 kills for the match. Martins added 24 digs to her kills for a double-double.
Jankowski dug up 28 balls while Dominiak added 39 assists.
Jackson had one block solo and five block assists to set a new IPFW record in block assists.
Emmy Blouin led the Wildcats with 18 kills. Sarah Rehn followed with 15. Alyse Lahti dug up 25 balls for UNH.
IPFW will travel to Northern Illinois on Tuesday, September 19th for a 7:00 pm match against the Huskies.
The Mastodons next home match is next weekend, September 22-23rd when they host the IPFW Invitational. The Invite will feature Robert Morris, North Florida, South Dakota State and Texas Pan American.
