Mastodons Completely Sweep Competition

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW Women's Volleyball team kept up their momentum from day one of the 2006 IPFW Invitational going into day two. The 'Dons made a complete sweep of the competition, defeating Robert Morris and North Florida, 3-0. Cynara Martins was named Tournament MVP and Rebekah Roehm and Peachy Jankowski were named to the All-Tournament Team.
IPFW v. Robert Morris
The Mastodons opened day two of the tournament with the Robert Morris Colonials. The 'Dons previously defeated the Colonials 3-0 at the Omni William Penn/Duquesne RMU Invite. IPFW kept that score going, defeating RMU, 3-0. Final scores were 30-25, 30-23, 30-21.
Amanda Pfister led the 'Dons with 12 kills. She added seven digs and a service ace for the afternoon.
Cynara Martins and Rebekah Roehm each posted eight kills in the three game set. Martins added seven digs while Roehm had one block solo and four block assists.
Jessica Dominiak led in the set and in the serve. She had 34 assists and three service aces for the 'Dons. Peachy Jankowski dug up 20 balls for the afternoon.
For Robert Morris, three ladies had nine kills, Jennifer Stambaugh, Cassie Lee, and Haley Schroeder.
Tawnya Storino had 36 assists while Alaina Gibson had 10 digs.
IPFW v. North Florida
IPFW kept their cycle going, defeating the Ospreys 3-0 in the nightcap of the IPFW Invitational. The Mastodons routed North Florida, 30-17, 30-26, 30-18.
Two 'Dons hit double figure kills for the three set match. Martins had 15 and Pfister added 12. Each also had double-doubles. Martins dug up 11 balls while Pfister had 10 digs.
Dominiak posted 31 assists and Jankowski had 27 digs for the night.
Claire Jackson led in the block with one solo and three assists.
For the Ospreys, Maegan Weisert hit a double-double with 11 kills and 16 digs. Jenna Thomas just missed a double-double, posting 34 assists and 9 digs.
Earlier in the day North Florida defeated Texas Pan American in four games. The Ospreys defeated the Lady Broncs, 30-22, 30-25, 25-30, 30-28.
The Jackrabbits defeated the Robert Morris Colonials in three games with final scores of 30-23, 30-23, 30-24.
IPFW will now have a week off before heading to Eastern Michigan on October 3rd. Game time is 7 PM. The Mastodons will host North Dakota State on October 7th starting at 7 PM.
