
Jankowski, Mastodons Set New Team Records

Fort Wayne , IN - IPFW Women's Volleyball hosted future Mid-Con foe North Dakota State on Saturday night in the Gates Center. The Bison overcame the Mastodons 3-1 in a match that featured great defense.
North Dakota State quickly rolled in game one to a 16-10 lead before the 'Dons cut it down to two at 19-17. The Bison struck again though, and finished game one on top, 30-24.
Game two would go to the Mastodons after they ran off to a 22-14 lead. NDSU tried to rally back, but the 'Dons kept their lead, 30-23. In game three the Bison hit a seven point lead at 7-14. NDSU would take game three after the 'Dons were called out of rotation to finish the match at 30-25.
Game four would go extra in the points and defense category. Long rallies were on, the Bison held out in the end, taking the match with a 32-30 game four victory.
Three Mastodons were in double figure kills. Jessica Miller led with 18 with Cynara Martins close behind with 14 and Amanda Pfister with 12 kills. Martins also hit a double-double with 24 digs.
Peachy Jankowski set a new single match dig record with 34 balls. The previous record of 33 digs was held by Sarah Leffers set in 2002 against Ball State. As a team the Mastodons also set a single match team record with 117 digs. The previous record of 115 was set in 1984 versus Taylor and 2001 against Valparaiso.
Jessica Dominiak added a double-double for the night with 49 assists and 12 digs. She also hit a .235 efficiency with six kills.
For NDSU, Sheila Parrish knocked down 26 kills and 21 digs. Chloe Quirk also had a double-double in digs and kills with 13 kills and 22 digs. Setter Mattie Johnson had 55 assists and 17 digs while Kari Fagnan dug up 28 balls for the Bison.
IPFW will travel to Chicago State on Sunday for a 4 PM match. Their next home match is Saturday, October 14th at 7 PM in the Gates Center vs. Buffalo.
