
'Dons Dominate in Exhibition

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW Women's Basketball team started of the 2006-07 season with an exhibition game against Indiana Tech. The 'Dons dominated the Warriors, defeating them 73-36.
The Mastodons started the first half with a 6-0 run and took it to 17-7 with 8:39 left in the half. A layup by Tina Moen would put the 'Dons up by 16 with 4:21 left in the first. IPFW finished the half with a 13 point lead, 30-17.
IPFW came out firing in the second, taking their lead to 17 at 14:44. Natalie Roberts went on a seven point run to take the 'Dons lead to 28 with 9:23 left in the game. IPFW kept the 30 point lead going with just over seven minutes left. A made three pointer by Hilary O'Connell took IPFW to a 39 point lead with 22 seconds left. Indiana Tech hit one last layup to finish the game 73-36, with a 37 point differential.
Nanyamka Moore led all scorers with 12 points. She was 5 of 9 from the field, adding eight rebounds.
Ashley Johnson connected for 11 points, going 4-9 from the field and perfect at the line, 3-3. Johnson added three steals.
Moen just hit double digits with 10 points in her 14 minutes on the court.
Samantha Edwards was the only 'Don with double digit rebounds. She finished with 10 boards and nine points.
Juliane Höhne led in steals with five. Johnna Lewis-Carlisle matched Johnson's steals with three.
The Warriors were led by Porsche Reaves with 10 points and Cherish Coley with 11 boards.
The Mastodons home and season opener is November 11th versus Toledo. Game time is 7 PM at the Gates Sports Center.
