
Mastodons Down Jaguars in Four

Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW hosted in-state and future conference rival IUPUI in their final home match of the season. The Mastodons and Jags gave the 1,000 plus crowd quite a show with IPFW defeating IUPUI, 3-1 in a match that kept the fans on the edge of their seats.
After honoring graduating seniors, Nicole Howell, Claire Jackson, and Amanda Pfister the battle began.
IUPUI took off with game one, 30-21. The Mastodons took a nine point lead at 17-9 in the second game and rallied from there, defeating the Jags 30-17. Game three and game four ended with final scores of 30-28. Game four was a back and forth battle from the 11-10 mark. But the 'Dons held out in the forth, finishing with kill by Cynara Martins to end the match.
Jessica Miller led the 'Dons on the attack with 15 kills. She added two block assists for the night.
Rebekah Roehm was a powerhouse, hitting at a .393 clip with 12 kills, two service aces and four block assists.
Jessica Dominiak stepped in late in game one, posting 41 assists. She was 5 of 6 on the offensive with a .833 hitting percentage. Dominiak added one block solo and three block assists.
Claire Jackson was the force at the net for the 'Dons. She posted two block solos and five block assists. Peachy Jankowski was IPFW's defensive leader with 24 digs and three service aces.
Overall the 'Dons just edged the Jags on hitting. IPFW hit at a .179 clip with 59 kills while IUPUI hit at .171 with 53 kills. IPFW dominated on the block with thirteen team blocks to IUPUI's eight.
The Mastodons (23-10) will now prepare for the Independent Tournament on November 10th and 11th. The tournament is hosted by North Dakota State in Fargo, North Dakota this year. The tournament draw has not been released as of this date.
