
'Dons Open Season on the Road

Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW Women's Volleyball opened up the season on the road at the Ball State Nike/Active Ankle Weekend in Muncie, Indiana. The Mastodons took game one, 30-28 but the Spartans of Michigan State bounced back to take the next three to win, 3-1.
The Mastodons finished with game scores of 30-28, 23-30, 20-30, 13-30.
Nicole Howell led the 'Dons on the attack with 11 kills. Amanda Pfister was close behind with eight. Jessica Miller led the way in hitting percentage, .429, with six kills on 14 attempts.
Miller took the lead in the block, posting five assists. Claire Jackson had two solos and two assists along with 4 kills for the night.
Jessica Dominiak recorded a double-double in her second career start with 28 assists and 11 digs. She also added one service ace and two block assists.
Four 'Dons finished the night in double figure digs. Peachy Jankowski led with 25 balls. Pfister dug up 12 while Cynara Martins and Dominiak had 11.
For Michigan State, four Spartans were in double figure kills, Katie Johnson led with 25, Jessica Hohl (15), Ashley Schatzle (13) and Allison Ianni rounded out the top with 11. Ianni posted a triple-double with 55 assists and 10 digs on the night.
The Mastodons will face the Ball State Cardinals, Saturday morning at 10 am at Worthen Arena for their second match of the weekend. IPFW will then wrap up the night with Xavier at 5:30 pm.
Their home opener is August 29th at 7 pm versus the Western Michigan Broncos at the Gates Center.
