
'Dons Improve to 14-8 After 3-0 Win Over UMKC

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW Mastodons came into Saturday's night match with a five match conference win streak and left with a six match win streak. The 'Dons defeated the Kangaroos of UMKC 3-0 in the Gates Center.
IPFW defeated UMKC, 30-22,32-30, 30-25.
Game one started off with the 'Dons on a 4-0 rally before UMKC got on the board. IPFW would extend their lead to six at 10-4. The 'Dons would continue to hold off the Roos, taking game one, 30-22.
IPFW would start game two with a 7-3 advantage and would extend it at 18-8. The Roos would slowly start to fight their way back in the game and would be within one at 24-23. Points were traded back and forth with IPFW and UMKC tying the game up at 30 all. A bad set would give IPFW the advantage at 31-30 and a three 'Don block by Kylee Hervey, Jessica Dominiak and Cynara Martins would take the game, 32-30.
UMKC would start game three off strong, taking an 8-6 lead. IPFW would tie the game up at 8 and then go on a 7-1 run to 15-9. IPFW would continue to dominate to 23-15. The Roos began to fight back, but IPFW held them off, 30-25.
Mayara Schlindwein led IPFW with 16 kills and a .270 hitting percentage. She added a block solo and a block assist.
Rebekah Roehm had 12 kills and eight digs while Jessica Miller had 10 kills.
Dominiak dished out 41 assists with four kills and seven digs.
Martins led on defense with 27 digs. Peachy Jankowski was close behind with 23 digs.
The Roos were led by Sarah Johnson with nine kills. Caitlin Koenig had 17 assists and Mandy Tipton dug 17 balls.
The Mastodons (14-8, 8-3 Summit League) will head to Oakland University on Sunday, October 21st. The match starts at 3 PM. IPFW will then head to Xavier University on Tuesday the 23rd before hosting the Cardinals of Ball State on October 30th. Match time is 7 PM in the Gates Center.
