Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW hosted Centenary College in a Summit League conference match on Friday night. It was yet another 3-0 win for the 'Dons, making it their eighth conference win in a row. IPFW is undefeated at home, going 11-0 so far this season.
IPFW defeated Centenary, 30-16, 30-25, 30-17.
The Mastodons and Ladies traded points back and forth in the first game of the match. The 'Dons pulled ahead by two at 10-8. A kill by Rebekah Roehm put the 'Dons ahead by four at 12-8. IPFW took their first double-digit lead at 22-12 on an attack error by the Ladies. From there the 'Dons would roll, taking game one, 30-16.
IPFW started game two with a 4-0 run before the Ladies answered back tying the match at nine all. The Ladies went on a streak of their own, going ahead by four at 15-19. The Mastodons fought back, tying the match at 22 all. It would get tied up again at 25 before the 'Dons would go on a 5-0 run for the game, 30-25.
Game three started off with the 'Dons on yet another roll, taking an 8-0 early lead. They continued to dominate from there, taking a 23-8 lead before the Ladies began to fight back. With the 'Dons at match point at 29-12 the Ladies scored the next five points before IPFW took the game and match, 30-17.
Roehm led the 'Dons on the attack with 15 kills. She hit at a .371 clip. Roehm added two service aces, eight digs and four block assists.
Jessica Dominiak dished out 25 assists and two service aces. Shannon Reuter had 12 assists and four digs.
Cynara Martins and Peachy Jankowski each had 11 digs. Martins added eight kills.
Mayara Schlindwein was strong on defense, posting two block solos and four block assists. She added eight kills and five digs.
Centenary was led by Ashlee Freeman with eight kills while Lindsay Bekelja dished out 22 assists. Three Ladies finished in double digit digs, Lindsay Bekelja (13), Yvonne Ramirez (13), Danielle Bochat (10).
The Mastodons improve to 17-9 overall and 10-3 in the Summit League.
They will host the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts tomorrow night. Start time is 7 PM.
The Mastodons will host Western Illinois next Friday night at 7 PM in the Gates Center before heading to IUPUI on Sunday, November 11th.
IPFW will host the Summit League Championship on November 16th and 17th. The top four teams in the Summit League will square off for the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
