Edinburg, TX - The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs snapped a three-game losing streak to IPFW with a 77-61 win on Thursday night at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
Five Broncs scored in double-digits with 6-11 senior center Colin Lien leading the way with 24 points.
UTPA (11-10) led by nine at the half, and quickly built upon that lead in the second half.
Julius Allgood, Brian Burrell, and Paul Stoll each came out and fired in 3-pointers.
From that point on, UTPA was content to trade baskets with the Mastodons.
Senior forward Justin Hawkins connected on four of five attempts from behind the arc, and sophomore guard Jakari Johnson pumped in a pair of triples of his own, but the 'Dons would not get any closer than six in the second half.
Hawkins and junior guard Chris Perkins each tossed in 12 for IPFW (7-14).
UTPA shot a blistering 51% for the game.
IPFW hit on 44% of its attempts from the floor, but turned the ball over 22 times.
With the loss, the 'Dons are now 0-3 on this current four-game road trip. They will finish the trip on Saturday night in Orem, Utah against Utah Valley State. Tip off is 9:05.
