
Mastodons Dominate Jackrabbits

Brookings, SD - Junior forward DeWitt Scott scored a game-high 22 points off the bench to lead IPFW past South Dakota State, 83-72 on Thursday night at Frost Arena.
Senior guard Quintin Carouthers's jumper, just a minute in, gave the Mastodons a 2-0 lead, and they never trailed the rest of the way.
IPFW opened the game on an 8-0 run courtesy of Carouthers and 3-pointers from point guard Chris Perkins and center Tyler Best.
Ten minutes into the half, Scott drilled a triple to give the 'Dons a double-digit, 20-10 lead.
The 'Jacks Thomas Bassett drew South Dakota State to within four on a lay up with just over a minute left in the half, but Scott drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to make it 43-33 at the buzzer.
The Mastodons (12-16) were never really challenged in the second half and cruised to the 11-point win.
Scott hit six triples in the game as part of his 22.
Junior forward Jaraun Burrows added 19 points and Carouthers chipped in 10.
Four Jackrabbits scored in double figures, with guard Garrett Callahan's 17 leading the way.
IPFW enjoyed another outstanding shooting evening, hitting 53.8% of their attempts from the floor.
South Dakota State (5-24), who has lost nine straight, finished the night shooting 39.7%.
IPFW's 12th win sets another record for wins at the Division I level.
The 'Dons will look to finish the season with win #13 at North Dakota State on Saturday night. Tipoff is set for 8:00pm.
