Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW junior starter Cole Uebelhor tossed a complete game, and junior center fielder Jared Davis homered, as the Mastodons topped Bowling Green State 7-2 at Mastodon Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Uebelhor had total command of his pitches and got plenty of run support from his offense.
Freshman left fielder T.J. Fletcher led off the game with a walk and quickly scored on a two-run home run by center fielder Jared Davis. It was Davis' fourth dinger of the season, and second in two days.
Bowling Green (17-22) would get one back in the top of the second on an RBI single by third baseman Chris Gacom.
The 'Dons would get that run right back on an RBI single from freshman second baseman Mark Carden in the bottom of the frame.
With IPFW leading 4-2, the Mastodons added two more in the fourth on a Fletcher RBI double to right and a Davis sacrifice fly.
IPFW got its final run of the contest in the 6th inning on another Fletcher single that chased home freshman shortstop Ryan Beer.
Uebelhor was untouchable after the third. He picked up his third win of the season, giving up just two runs on nine hits. Uebelhor struck out seven, while walking just one.
Carden booked three hits on the afternoon. Davis, Fletcher, and sophomore catcher Adam Miller each had a pair of base knocks.
With the win, IPFW improves to 9-26. They will return to action this weekend, hosting future Mid-Con opponent South Dakota State in double-headers Friday and Saturday afternoon.
First pitch for both contests is 1:00pm.
