
IPFW Falls to Bison in Four

Fargo, ND - The IPFW Mastodons opened up conference play this weekend in the Dakotas. The Mastodons started the weekend at North Dakota State on Friday night. The Bison defeated the 'Dons, 3-1.
IPFW fell to North Dakota State, 30-26, 28-30, 19-30, 25-30.
In game one, the Bison took a three point lead at 10-7. At 23 all the 'Dons went on a run, taking game one 30-26.
The Mastodons kept the momentum going, taking a 7-3 lead early in game two. IPFW held onto the lead until 26 all when the Bison took a note from IPFW's playbook, and went on a 4-2 run to take the match to 1-1.
Game three was all Bison, as they went up in the match, 2-1.
Game four saw the Mastodons down 20-13 before Cynara Martins knocked down a kill to cut the lead to six. The 'Dons would begin to battle back, but the Bison held on, taking the game and the match.
The Mastodons were led by Jessica Miller with a double-double of 26 kills and 14 digs. Both are personal career bests. She also was strong at the net with five block assists.
Rebekah Roehm was the only other 'Don in double-digit kills with 16. She added eight digs and five block assists.
Jessica Dominiak dished out 38 assists and Peachy Jankowski had 17 digs.
North Dakota State had three ladies with double-digit kills, Christy Stuewe (14), Kelly Lopez (12) and Kristin Hille (11). Mattie Johnson had 46 assists and Kari Fagan had 20 digs.
The Mastodons (6-5, 0-1) will now head to South Dakota State for a match on Saturday for their second conference match. The match will start at 5 pm Central.
IPFW will host North Dakota State on September 22nd in their first home conference match. Game time is 7 pm in the Gates Center.
