
IPFW Falls to Golden Eagles

Tulsa, OK - IPFW headed to Oral Roberts, the champion of last year's conference tournament for a match on Friday night. The Golden Eagles defeated the 'Dons 3-0.
The Mastodons fell to Oral Roberts, 23-30, 15-30, 30-32.
Game one saw the Golden Eagles run out to a 14-7 lead before a service error would break up Oral Roberts rally. A few points would be traded back and forth before the Golden Eagles were able to make another run, taking a 26-20 lead. From there the Golden Eagles took game one, 23-30.
Oral Roberts kept their flow going right into game two. They ran out to a 10-6 lead and three long rallies from there would give ORU a 2-0 lead.
Game three would start off completely different. IPFW and ORU traded points back and forth, keeping the match even until 10 all. A run by the Golden Eagles would put them ahead 20-14. A kill by Mayara Schlindwein would stop Oral Roberts' run at the 21-15 mark. The Mastodons would rally back, tying the match at 27. They would trade points back and forth until the Golden Eagles got the advantage, 32-30.
Jessica Miller and Rebekah Roehm each posted 11 kills for IPFW. Miller added seven digs.
Cynara Martins led on the defensive side with 15 digs. Peachy Jankowski posted 14 digs.
Jessica Dominiak dished out 33 assists in the three game match.
Oral Roberts was led by Janete Ferreira with 11 kills and 13 digs. Jackie Oliveira also had a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs.
Joanita Souza knocked down 11 kills while Thais Prada had 44 assists.
The Mastodons (8-7, 2-3 Summit League) will now head to Centenary College for a 7 PM (Central) start on Saturday night.
Next week the 'Dons will head to Bowling Green State on October 2nd before hosting South Dakota State and IUPUI on Friday and Saturday respectively. Both matches are in the Gates Center and start at 7 PM.
