Muncie, IN - The IPFW women's tennis team headed to their second invitational over the weekend. The Mastodons participated in the Ball State Invitational. Amy Recht and Sachi Janek won the B Doubles consolation bracket and Hanna Hager and Agnes Menger won the C Doubles consolation bracket.
Miami (OH), Northern Illinois, Dayton, Butler, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and host Ball State participated in the invite.
A Singles
Sachi Janek and Amy Recht represented IPFW in the A Singles bracket.
In her first match, Janek fell to Katie Friedlund (NIU) 3-6, 6-4(11). In consolation she fell to Sophie Quist (BSU) 6-0, retired. Janek played an extra match against Calderwood anf fell 6-4, 6-4.
Recht defeated Lilian Asuaje (NIU) 6-2, 6-2. In her second match she defeated Natalie James (Butler) 6-4, 6-1. In the semifinals she fell to M. Martzolf of Miami, 0-6, 7-6(4), 10-0.
B Singles
IPFW was represented by Stacy Lish and Ashley Coulson in the B Flight Singles.
Lish defeated Emma Retter (BSU) 6-4, 6-3. In her second match she fell to Nao Umermura (NIU) 6-2, 6-0. Lish played two extra matches, going 1-1. She defeated Glankler 6-0, 6-1 and fell to McLoughlin 7-6(7-1), 6-3.
Coulson defeated Kellaina Grote of Dayton 6-4, 4-6(6) but fell to Georgina Thomson (BSU) 6-0, 6-0 in her second match. In extra matches Coulson fell to Glankler 6-2, 3-6, 12-10. McLoughlin defeated Coulson 6-2, 6-3.
C Singles
Hanna Hager, Ashley Huffine and Agnes Menger played for IPFW in the C Singles flight.
Hager dropped her first match to K. McPhillips of Miami 6-0, 6-0. In consolation she defeated Huffine 6-1, 6-1 but then fell to Gabriella Bobrowski of Butler 6-3, 6-4 in the consolation semifinals.
Huffine fell to Jenna Felsher (UWM) 6-3, 6-1 in her first match. In consolation she fell to Hager. Huffine played an extra match. She fell to O'Connell 6-0, 6-4.
Menger fell to Michelle Hawes of Ball State 6-4, 6-3. In consolation, Menger fell to Nikki Dzubay of Dayton, 4-6, 6-4, 13-11.
D Singles
Megan Rethlake, Alexa Rang, Mollee Carpenter and Ashley Hunter represented IPFW in the D Singles flight.
Rethlake fell to Lauren Fenley (UWM) in her first match, 6-0, 6-2. In consolation, she fell to Stephanie Okuma (NIU) 6-3, 6-0. In extra matches, Rethlake faced teammate Rang. She defeated Rang 6-0, 6-0.
Rang dropped her first match to J. Linden (Miami) 6-1, 6-0. In consolation Rang fell to Rachel Surowiec (BSU) 6-1, 6-0. Rang played two extra matches. She fell to Rethlake 6-0, 6-0 and an injury caused her to default to Vinluan.
Carpenter fell to Chelsea Gray of Dayton 6-2, 6-0 in her first match. In consolation she defeated Valerie Vinluan (Butler) 6-2, 6-4. In the D flight consolation semifinals Carpenter fell to Tracy Litscher (UWM) 6-2, 6-0. Carpenter fell to Surowiec in an extra match, 6-4, 6-1.
Hunter wrapped up the 'Dons singles action. She fell to Dora Delgadillo (NIU) 6-0, 6-0. In consolation she dropped her match to Tracy Litscher (UWM) 6-2, 6-0. She played one extra match, falling to Vinluan 6-2, 6-0.
Doubles
The team of Coulson and Lish competed in A Doubles for IPFW. They defeated Quist and Calderwood (BSU) 8-5 but fell to Drvaric/Kastenholz (UWM) 8-4. In an extra match Coulson and Lish fell to Martzolf and Larson, 8-1.
Recht and Janek played in the B Doubles flight. They dropped their first match to Jaimes and Bobrowski (Butler) 8-6. In consolation, they defeated Thomas and Pollack (BSU) 8-2 and Schnapp and Schoen (UWM) 8-1. Recht and Janek won the B Flight Doubles consolation bracket.
In C Doubles, Hager and Menger fell to McPhillips and Linden of Miami, 8-1. In consolation they defeated Grote and Glankler (UD) 8-2. They then defeated Schoen and Felsher (UWM) 8-2 to win the C Doubles Flight consolation bracket.
In D doubles, the 'Dons were represented by the teams of Carpenter and Rang and Rethlake and Huffine.
Hunter played with Vinluan of Butler for the D Doubles flight. They fell to Rethlake and Huffine 8-6. Hunter's team then fell to Matthews/Gray (UD) 8-1.
Rethlake and Huffine fell in their second match to Litscher and Fenley (UWM) 8-3. In an extra match Hall and Surowiec (BSU) defeated Rethlake/Huffine 8-2.
Carpenter and Rang dropped their first match to Hall and Surowiec (BSU) 8-6. In consolation they fell to Young/Hoffman of Miami, 8-0.
