Valparaiso, IN - Valparaiso's Jackie Thomas netted her second goal of the year, midway through the first half, as the Crusaders cruised past IPFW, 4-0 on Friday afternoon.
Thomas headed home a corner from the foot of Lynnea Pappas at the 23:16 mark to give Valpo all the offense they would need in the match.
The Crusaders (2-1-0) took a 2-0 lead into halftime on an unassisted goal by Sarah Jewell. Jewell blasted a shot, IPFW keeper Malinda Holmer made the initial save, but gave the rebound right back to Jewell who found the back of the net.
Just two minutes into the second half, Pappas gave Valpo some added insurance with a shot that bent its way into the net from a tough angle.
The Crusaders finished off the scoring in the 82nd minute on a goal by Jackie Kondratko.
VU keeper Mele Cabral made two saves for the win.
Holmer made four saves in the loss.
IPFW (0-3-0) returns to the Hefner Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon, hosting Central Michigan at 1:00 p.m.
