
IPFW Swept by North Dakota State

Fargo, ND - The IPFW Mastodons were swept by the Summit League-leading Bison of North Dakota State 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-15) on Friday night, the second loss to the Bison this season for IPFW. The loss snaps a three-match win streak by IPFW, and pushes NDSU's win streak to 14, as the Bison stand at a perfect 13-0 in league play this season, with IPFW falling to 9-4 in conference action.
Taryn Parker and Jessica Miller each had seven kills to lead the `Dons, with Rebekah Roehm and Kylee Hervey chipping in a half dozen apiece. Jessica Dominiak dished out 17 assists, with Jamie Schwartz and Roehm digging up 15 and 12 kill attempts, apiece. Parker also led IPFW in blocks with three, with a pair of those coming on combination blocks.
In the opening set IPFW led 5-4 before the hosts opened a 4-0 run to push ahead 8-5. Four consecutive points by the `Dons once again gave them a one-point lead, as the team led by two at 11-9 before NDSU scored five of the next six points to lead 14-12, and would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way, using runs of 4-0 and 3-0 to cruise to the 25-17 lead.
A 3-0 run by IPFW early in the second set gave the visitors a 7-4 lead before the Bison rattled off five consecutive points to lead 9-7. The `Dons would only get as close as one the rest of the way, as the hosts used a 3-0 and a 4-0 run to secure the 25-18 middle-set victory.
In the third and eventual final set, IPFW was only able to run off three groups of two straight points, as NDSU had five 2-0 or greater runs over the first half of the frame, leading 16-12, before six straight points pushed the Bison ahead 22-12 before the teams traded points to end the final set 25-15.
North Dakota State was led by Jennifer Lopez who finished with her fifth triple-double of the season with 10 kills, 19 assists and 11 digs, while adding three blocks and two aces in the all-around effort. Brooke VandenBergh added 10 kills and eight digs, with Mattie Johnson dishing out 22 assists. Kelly Lopez dug up 18 kill attempts with Kristin Hille adding 10. Janna Deyle had a match-high five blocks in the victory. The 1,269 fans to see the game is the ninth highest crowd ever at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
IPFW travels south to South Dakota State on Saturday, where the team will face off against the Jackrabbits, 3-0 victors over Oakland tonight, with the first-serve set for 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
