
Mastodons Fall at No. 13 Purdue, 70-55

West Lafayette, IN - Sophomore center JaJuan Johnson scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in leading No. 13 Purdue over IPFW, 70-55 Monday night at Mackey Arena.
IPFW held reigning Big Ten player of the week Robbie Hummel to just six points, but the Boilermakers went to Johnson and sophomore guard E'Twaun Moore as their primary targets.
Moore finished the contest with 19 points on 10-14 shooting from the field.
IPFW stayed close with Purdue in the early going. Junior guard Nick Daniels scored the Mastodons' first eight points of the game and then tied the game at 17 with his third 3-pointer of the half.
Purdue then began to use their size advantage, kicking the ball inside to the 6-10 Johnson who dropped in a pair of buckets to give the Boilers a 10-point lead.
Purdue opened up a 14-point lead at the half as junior guard Chris Kramer threw a three-quarter court pass to Johnson, who layed it in at the buzzer.
In the second half, the Mastodons could get no closer than 11 points as Purdue captured their 10th win of the season by 15.
Senior guard Marcus Green was the only other Boilermaker in double-figures with 12.
IPFW was led by Daniels with a career-high 14 points. Freshman guard Jeremy Mixon added nine, while junior forward Deilvez Yearby chipped in eight and had seven rebounds.
Purdue (10-2) also won the battle of the boards, 36-29.
With the loss, IPFW falls to 4-8. The end their seven-game road trip on Sunday afternoon at North Florida. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
