Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW senior Stacy Lish, coming off an impressive weekend, won again today at No. 5 singles for IPFW against Detroit. The Titans were able to win a number of close matches and the doubles point to top the 'Dons, 4-3 at the Pine Ridge Racquet Club.
Lish, who got pivotal wins in singles in the Mastodons' pair of wins this weekend over Niagara and Chicago State, picked up where she left off with a straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 win over Detroit's Kelly Davis.
IPFW's freshman No. 1 Amy Recht captured her first set over Detroit's Svetlana Flankova, 6-2. She took the match when Flankova was forced to retire with an injury.
Sophomore Mollee Carpenter registered IPFW's third and final point of the afternoon with a come from behind, 0-6, 6-3, 10-6 win over Stephanie Hill.
The doubles point proved to be huge, again, in this match.
Senior Ashley Coulson and Lish combined for an exciting, 8-7 (3) win at No. 1 doubles, but the Mastodons fell in close matches at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, 8-5 and 8-6.
With the loss, IPFW falls to 5-7. The 'Dons return to action on Saturday, hosting the Lipscomb Bison at Pine Ridge at 7:00 p.m.
