Long Beach, CA - Trailing two games to one, the IPFW men's volleyball team rallied back to top California Baptist, 3-2 on day two of the Active Ankle/LB Greathouse Classic hosted by Long Beach State University.
The Mastodons won the first game 30-28 but dropped the next two 30-23 and 30-27 before rallying back to take the last two games 30-26 and 17-15.
IPFW had no answer for Lancer sophomore outside hitter Adiel Tiedjop who put down a match-high 35 kills. He hit .426 in the match and had eight digs.
Fortunately for the 'Dons they got big matches from their senior outside hitters. C.J. Macias had 21 kills as did opposite Jason Yhost. Yhost also dug up 10 balls for a double-double.
The key stat in the match was in the serving column. IPFW took advantage of 27 Cal Baptist service errors, nine alone from Tiedjop.
Senior setter Graydon Ainsworth dished out 58 assists and had a team-high seven block assists.
With the win, IPFW snaps a two-game losing streak and improves to 9-8 overall.
The Mastodons return to action on Friday night at Ball State.
