Cedar City, UT - Southern Utah senior forward Nurudeen Adepoju scored with just :08 left in regulation tying the game at 82, and with most of IPFW's lineup on the bench in OT, Southern Utah won easily in overtime 99-89 on Saturday night at Centrum Arena.
In a game where 60 fouls were whistled, IPFW found themselves without the services of seniors DeWitt Scott, Jaraun Burrows, David Carson, and Chris Perkins in the OT session.
Southern Utah exploited IPFW's mix-and-match lineup, controlling the glass and hitting timely baskets.
The Mastodons had a number of chances to put the game away in regulation but could not hit foul shots when they needed to.
The turning point came with just :11 left in regulation.
The 'Dons failed to get inbound the ball under their basket. SUU's Chris Hoopes stole the inbounds pass and fed to Adepoju for the layup that sent it to overtime.
Burrows led IPFW in scoring before fouling out with 21 points.
Carson added 18 points, including a 12-15 night from the foul line.
Scott finished the evening with 15 points. He eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for his career at IPFW.
Perkins also hit in double-figures with 11.
Southern Utah's Dave Marek came into the game averaging eight points. He hit for a game-high 30.
The Thunderbirds dominated the boards, outrebounding IPFW, 41-25.
With the win, SUU finishes the regular season at 11-18, 9-9 in The Summit League.
