
IPFW Women Win 11th Straight Match

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW Mastodon women's tennis team won their 11th straight match on the year in their first outdoor match at the newly re-named Dr. Rudy and Rhonda Kachmann Tennis Center, narrowly edging Wright State by a 4-3 score.
The `Dons took the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Sachi Janek and Amy Recht teamed up for an 8-1 win at No. 2, while the duo of Hanna Hager and Alexa Rang won 8-3 at No. 3.
Leading the way for singles was Recht, who won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Hager and Mollee Carpenter won in straight sets at No. 5 and No. 6, securing the win for IPFW. Hager toppled her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, with Carpenter winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 6. Janek fell in a three-set match, winning the first set 6-1 before falling 6-1, 6-3 in the final two.
The team looks to keep its undefeated Summit League record and win streak alive after the weekend, as the team hosts the final Summit League cluster, where they will take on co-leader Oral Roberts on Friday, April 18. The team will also face Centenary (April 19), South Dakota State (April 20) and Western Illinois (April 20) over the weekend.
