IPFW Secures Second Seed With Win

Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW women's tennis team improved to 19-8 on the season and 8-1 in the Summit League after a 4-2 victory over the Western Illinois University Westerwinds in the final match of the Fort Wayne Summit League Cluster.
The Mastodons picked up the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 2 pairs. Stacy Lish and Ashley Coulson won 8-4 at No. 1, with Amy Recht and Sachi Janek topping their opponent 8-1 at No. 2.
In singles play, Amy Recht finished the season undefeated in conference play at No. 1, winning 6-1, 7-6 (7-3). Coulson also picked up a singles victory, winning 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5. Janek picked up the final victory for the `Dons, winning at No. 2 via injury default.
The `Dons next take to the courts on Friday, April 25 when IPFW hosts the Summit League Championships at the Dr. Rudy and Rhonda Kachmann Tennis Center. IPFW secured the second seed for the tournament, with Oral Roberts winning the regular season title. Oral Roberts will take on Western Illinois while IPFW will face Southern Utah University.
