
Gents Take Twinbill from Mastodons

Fort Wayne, IN - Centenary College avenged their 16-5 loss to IPFW yesterday with a double header sweep of the Mastodons on Saturday afternoon at Mastodons Field.
The Gents took the opener, 8-1 and piled it on in the nightcap, 14-4
The wins put Centenary at 23-17 overall and 7-8 in the Summit League.
IPFW falls to 10-27-1 and 6-9 in league play.
Centenary's Justin Kraft improved to 8-2 on the year, pitching a complete-game six hitter in game one. He struck out four while walking two. The only run he gave up came in the 9th inning. That run came on an RBI single by right fielder Garrett Segraves.
In game two, IPFW jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the 3rd inning on RBI singles by first baseman Shaun VanDriessche and Segraves.
But from that point it was all Centenary.
The Gents scored three in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings and four in the fifth to win going away.
Senior center fielder Jared Davis continued his hot hitting. He had three hits in game two, including his fourth homer of the year. Davis collected four hits on the day, raising his team-leading batting average to .348.
IPFW and Centenary will conclude their four-game series Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
