IPFW Loses in Heartbreaker

Fort Wayne, IN- In a match that came down to the wire, the IPFW women's soccer team was defeated by Valparaiso, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at the wet Hefner Field in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Valpo moves to 5-1-0 with the win, and IPFW is now 0-7 on the year.
The match was tied 0-0 until Valpo's Dana McGlone fired a free kick into the net over the IPFW defensive wall and goaltender, with 17 seconds left in the game. The lone goal would seal the victory for Valparaiso.
Despite the loss, IPFW kept the Crusaders in check for the majority of the game in treacherous conditions. Heavy rain and swirling wind were on hand off and on throughout the afternoon.
The Mastodons received shots on goal from Tara O'Toole, who had four, Brittni Roy with two, and Brittany Climmons, who fired one. IPFW freshman Kristen McFadden had six saves in the contest.
The 'Dons will look to regroup for their next match at Cleveland State this Friday, September 19. Match time is set for 7 p.m. ET.
