Detroit, MI- The IPFW women's tennis team open their season on Sunday against Detroit-Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. Unfortunately for the Mastodons, the Titans got off to a quick start and defeated IPFW, 4-3.
IPFW sophomore Amy Recht picked up two victories on the afternoon, one in singles against Annie Moore (6-1, 5-7, 6-3) and the other in doubles with partner Sachi Janek against Annie Moore and Zeljka Minic (8-1).
Playing in the #4 spot for the Mastodons, Yuka Kobayashi picked up her first win as a 'Don by defeating Aneta Maricevic (4-6, 6-1, 6-3).
Freshman Katie Brien earned her first collegiate victory after beating Erin Weldon (7-5, 6-2).
IPFW will head to Dayton, Ohio, on February 7 for a pair of matches against Dayton at noon and Wright State at 6:00 p.m.
