Rochester, MI – Oakland's balanced offense scored a goal in each half, defeating the 'Dons and moving to a perfect 3-0 in Summit League play.
IPFW's offensive struggles continued against the Grizzles, as the Mastodons managed just four shots on goal in the loss. Despite an overall shot total that teetered at a nearly even 16-15, it was the Grizzlies that were able to capitalize and get on the board.
Oakland's Makesi Lewis scored the Grizzlies' first half tally, beating IPFW keeper Donovan Dowling in a break-out one-on-one opportunity in the game's 32nd minute. Stefan St. Louis added the final Oakland goal with six minutes remaining in the match, as he took a pass from Jake Przybycien through the middle of the box and sent it in to seal the victory.
For the 'Dons, four players shared the team lead with a shot on goal each. Dowling posted three saves in the match.
The IPFW offense has been held scoreless in three matches thus far in the month of October. Today's loss drops the 'Dons to 0-3 in league play.
The 'Dons will look to break the offensive slide Wednesday as the Cleveland State Vikings will visit Fort Wayne for a 7 p.m. match up. IPFW will return to action in the Summit League slate in two weeks as the 'Dons will host Western Illinois on Oct. 25 for a 1 p.m. Sunday kick-off.
