Fort Wayne, IN- Despite outshooting Centenary 19-9 on Sunday, the IPFW women's soccer team fell short to the Ladies 2-1 on Senior Day at Hefner Stadium.

The loss is the second defeat in as many games for IPFW, and their record now stands at 4-8-1 (3-3 Summit League) on the season. With the win, Centenary improves to 9-3-1 (1-2-1 Summit League).

After a scoreless first half, both teams turned up the heat midway through the second period, with Centenary finding the scoreboard first at the 68 minute mark. The Ladies took the lead thanks to a Chelsea Granger shot from inside the Mastodon box.

Four minutes later, the Ladies found the scoreboard again, this time from Katie Valdez, as she found a seam in the IPFW defense and fired a shot past a charging Kristen McFadden.

Down 2-0, the Mastodons stormed back five minutes later, when Lisa Underwood scored her 10th goal of the season off a cornerkick that was misplayed by the Ladie goalkeeper, landing in the back of the net. Underwood's score ties her with Anika Apar for the most goals scored in a season by a Mastodon. Apar had 10 goals back in 2005.

With under 13 minutes left in regulation and down a goal, the 'Dons needed a quick score to even up the game and send it into overtime. Unfortunately for the home team, late shot attempts at Centenary's goal fell just short, ending the match at 2-1 in favor of the Ladies.

On offense, IPFW was led by Underwood and her second half goal, while taking five shots, three being on goal. Tara O'Toole had four shots in the contest, as well. In goal, McFadden made four saves, while facing nine Centenary shot attempts.

Before the contest, the IPFW women's soccer program said farewell to three-year player Tammi Kerr, as she played her final home game in the Royal Blue and White.

The Mastodons will look to regroup for their next conference match on October 23 against Oakland at 7:00 p.m. EST. The contest will be held at Ultimate Soccer Arena in Rochester, Michigan.
