Fort Wayne, IN - Five Mastodons scored in double figures and IPFW had its best shooting night of the season as the 'Dons rolled Purdue-North Central, 101-55 on Monday night at the Memorial Coliseum.
IPFW shot 63.8% from the floor and held the Panthers to just 28.1% from the field.
The 'Dons got a number of outstanding performances in the contest. Senior forward Deilvez Yearby led the team with 18 points and nine rebounds in just 21 minutes of action. He blocked six shots, one shy of his school record.
Senior guard Nick Daniels was an assist and a rebound shy of a triple-double. Daniels finished with 10 points, nine boards and nine assists. He also had two blocks and two assists.
Junior forward Antwone Snead dropped in 15 points in 16 minutes of action, while freshman guard Brandon Gaines tossed in a career-high 14 points. The other Mastodon in double-digits was junior guard Zach Plackemeier with 10.
IPFW blew out to a 30-point, 53-23 halftime lead and never looked back. The only drama was if the Mastodons would crack the 100-point mark, and they did on a jumper by sophomore guard Seve Beach. They were the first two points of Beach's IPFW career.
Purdue-North Central (5-12) was led by forward Ryan Sisson with 17. Jean-Francois Ndomb chipped in 14.
With the win, IPFW improved to 5-6. The 'Dons return to Summit League action on Thursday afternoon, hosting IUPUI at the Memorial Coliseum. Game time on New Year's Eve day is 1:00 p.m. The game will be tape delayed and broadcast on Comcast Channel 81 at 8:00 p.m. New Year's Eve.
