'Dons Stay Consistent at Saluki Invite

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The IPFW women's golf team finished day two the Saluki Invitational Monday at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course, (5,999 yard, par 72), and finished in 13th out of 15 teams with a two-day 698.
It was the team's final regular season tournament before the Summit Conference Championships held at Katke Cousins Golf Course in Rochester, Michigan, hosted by Oakland University.
Jillian Speece led IPFW with an 84 during day two to achieve the 'Dons best tournament score of 167 good for a tied for 36th. Alison Rathsman finished tied for 62nd with (91-84) for a 175, while Jacque Speece (89-89) and Nikki LeRose (94-84) both finished with a 178. Tosha Embry finished up the invite with a (106-103), 209.
LeRose had the best improvement between days taking 10 strokes off her Sunday score carding an 84 Monday.
Tournament host Southern Illinois dropped from third to fourth and finished with a team 639. The top three teams and their team scores were: Drake (630), Ball State (634), and Bradley (636).
The overall individual medalist was Kate Laegeler who shot a 74-78 (152).
As mentioned, the 'Dons next play in the Summit Conference Championships held at Oakland University's Katke Cousins Golf Course, April 20-21.
