Bowling Green, OH-The Mastodon women's tennis team picked up only one victory against Bowling Green on Saturday, leading to a 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Falcons at the Perryburg Tennis Center in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Sophomore Katie Brien managed the lone point for IPFW, as she had little trouble with Fort Wayne native Jade Johnson 6-4, 6-1. Unfortunately for the Mastodons, the trouble began early in the doubles competition.
The Falcons won the doubles point after sweeping the three matches. The 'Dons best chance for a doubles win came when Brien and Alexandra Forsyth fell behind early against Johnson and Katia Babina, but stormed back to within a game at 4-3. From here, however, the Falcons used home court to their advantage. winning four out of the next six games to take the match.
Although 1-3 on the season, the 'Dons are at the tail end of the most difficult part of their spring schedule.
Before returning home for a nine-match homestand, the 'Dons will take on Western Michigan in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on February 6 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
