Brookings, SD - Following a grueling five-set thriller less than 24 hours earlier, the IPFW Mastodons were able to cruise to a 3-0 victory over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Saturday evening by scores of 25-16, 28-26, 25-19.

Maya Schlindwein paced the team with a match-high 17 kills, becoming the 15th member of IPFW's career 1,000-kill club, as Stephanie Lamberti added 13 in the winning effort. Sophomore setter Megan Steenhuysen flirted with becoming just the second player in school history with a triple-double, as the second-year player dished out a match-high 46 assists while pounding down eight kills and picking up seven digs. Tessa McGill added 22 digs in the three-set victory.

The Mastodons jumped out quickly in the opener, turning a 3-3 tie into a 10-5 lead nine points later. The 'Jacks would only close to within as few as four points the rest of the way, as the 'Dons cruised to the 25-16 opening-set win.

The middle frame saw the teams battle back and forth, with the host Jackrabbits ahead 9-8 before the Mastodons responded with five straight points to lead 13-9. The feisty host squad did not go quietly into the set, clawing their way back to take a three-point lead at 23-20. The Mastodons fended off the SDSU surge, and scored eight of the final 11 points of the set to take the second frame 28-26.

In the third set, the Mastodons led wire-to-wire, jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead and never trailing for the entirety of the set. The three-point margin would be as close as the hosts would come over the last three quarters of the set, as the 'Dons became the first team in the Summit League in over three years to win at both North Dakota State and South Dakota State in the same conference trip.

Aiding in the Mastodon win, the visitors hit a blistering .302 (56 kills, 14 errors, 139 attempts), and recorded a side-out percentage of over 75 percent in two of the three sets.

The 'Dons keep on their current road swing as they travel north to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where the squad will take on the Eagles of Eastern Michigan University with a 7:00 PM first serve for the non-conference battle.
