Bowling Green, OH - Coming off of an intense five-set victory over the Oakland Grizzlies in each school's Summit League opener, the IPFW Mastodons swept the Falcons of Bowling Green State University 25-23, 25-21, 25-13.

The Mastodons, now 4-5 on the season, were led by a career-high 13 kills from sophomore Haley Emenhiser, while Stephanie Lamberti added 10 kills. Tessa McGill stretched her streak of double-figure dig games to nine with 11, as Maya Schlindwein and Alli Hook each had three blocks.

Bowling Green (2-6) came out firing, taking advantage of the long previous night for the Mastodons, jumping out to a quick 5-0 lead, and kept their five-point lead through 16-11 before the Mastodons started chipping away at the deficit, and used a late 4-1 run to knot the score at 20 apiece. The set was tied again at 21 and 22, before three straight IPFW points put the 'Dons ahead 24-22, and after a final point for the Falcons, Megan Steenhuysen picked up a kill for the set's final points, giving IPFW it's first opening-set win of the 2010 season.

In the second set the Mastodons again fell behind and trailed by three at 14-11. Following a timeout, IPFW scored four straight to take a 15-14 lead. The IPFW advantage grew to as many as four at 20-16, and the 'Dons never trailed again in the set, despite the Falcons closing the gap to one at 21-20. With the lead cut to the narrowest of margins, the 'Dons scored four of the final five points of the set to go into intermission ahead 2-0.

In the third and eventual final set, the Mastodons jumped out early, leading 8-3 and never looked back, ending the match on a 5-0 run to take the third set in dominating fashion.

Schlindwein added nine kills with Hook picking up eight. Steenhuysenn dished out 37 assists while putting down four kills, as Lamberti added two service aces and nine digs.

Bowling Green was led by Paige Penrod who had nine kills while adding 11 digs.

The Mastodons return to action at 4:30 PM in the team's final match of the Bowling Green Best Western Falcon Plaza Invitational, where they will face off against the Cornell Big Red at 4:30 PM.
