BROOKINGS, S.D. - With a first half that set the tone of the match, IPFW fell 3-0 to South Dakota State on Sunday afternoon in Brookings, S.D., to close out its weekend going 0-2 on the road.

The Mastodons are now 4-9-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the Summit League. With the win, the Jackrabbits improve to 9-5-2 overall and 5-0-1 in league play.

The Jackrabbits came out early firing on the Mastodons taking three shots, with one on goal, in the first 15 minutes.

In the 21st minute, SDSU's Megan Kingston was able to place the ball into the back of the net off of a cross in the box from Kayla Braffet for the 1-0 lead.

The 'Dons continued to fight the offensive pressure by the Jackrabbits, which included 13 shots, with four on goal by SDSU in the first half. Three of the shots were blocked by IPFW while Mastodon senior keeper, Kristen McFadden, recorded three saves.

Junior Lisa Underwood took the Mastodons lone shot of the first half in the 43rd minute, but the shot went high allowing the Jackrabbits to carry the 1-0 lead into the locker rooms.

Similar to the first half, SDSU came out in the second half recording three shots early on and then increased their lead by two in the 60th minute.

SDSU's Darci Miller, with the help of Christa Nyblom, was able to get the ball past McFadden for the Jackrabbit goal and 2-0 score.

IPFW junior Alaina Jones attempted to get the 'Dons on the board in the 74th minute, but her shot went wide.

With one minute left on the clock, Kingston had her second goal of the match off of a pass from Miller that allowed her to beat McFadden to the goal for the Jackrabbits 3-0 victory over the Mastodons.

McFadden recorded a total of five saves for the Royal Blue and White. SDSU led IPFW in shots, 22-2, and corner kicks, 10-0. Both teams collected eight fouls each.

The Mastodons now return home to prepare for their final two home-matches next weekend. IPFW will face Southern Utah on Friday (Oct. 21) at 7 p.m. and Oral Roberts on Senior Day, which is Sunday (Oct. 23) at 1 p.m.
