PRIMM, Nev. - IPFW sophomore Alyssa Turney led the women's golf team to tie for its lowest round in a Summit League Championship after firing a third-round score of 80 as the Mastodons finished in 10th place at the conference championship in Primm, Nevada on Tuesday.
The Mastodons posted a final team score of 1077 (365-370-342) at the Primm Valley Golf Club-Lakes. The third-round score of 342 tied the 'Dons for their lowest round since 2009 in conference championship play.
Turney's third-round score of 80 is also the lowest of her two-year career. After posting a 54-hole total of 261 (88-93-80), Turney tied for 40th place at the championship.
Improving six shots from yesterday's second round, junior Tosha Embry carded her lowest round of 87 en route to a 275 (95-93-87) to tie for 45th place overall.
Freshman Maggie Talbert saw a nine-stroke improvement from yesterday's second round score of 98 to tie for 45th place after posting a 275 (88-98-89) while freshman Taylor Lamphier finished right behind Talbert in 47th place with a 54-hole total of 276 (94-89-93).
Sophomore Breanna Hatter had her lowest round of the season after a 18-hole total of 86 to finish in 48th place overall with a 278 total (97-95-86).
Oral Roberts took the women's championship title after finishing with a team score of 911, while Western Illinois finished in second place with 938 and Oakland followed one stroke behind with a 939 for third place.
