
Despite the 1-0 loss, IPFW senior goalkeeper Kristen McFadden recorded five saves in net

Bowling Green, OH - In a physical match that included 27 fouls and two yellow cards, the IPFW women's soccer team fell short to the Bowling Green Falcons, 1-0, on Friday evening in Bowling Green, Ohio.
With their second-straight 1-0 loss, the Mastodons fall to 2-4-0 overall while the Falcons improve to 3-5-0.
Despite a scoreless first half, both teams had their chances to get on the board. IPFW had four shots, with one on goal, while BGSU had five shots, with two on goal.
Senior Kristen McFadden helped the Mastodons prevent the Falcons from scoring when she tallied two saves in the 16th and 39th minutes.
Seniors Tara O'Toole and Brittany Climmons both had shots that came close to scoring for the Mastodons, but O'Toole's was blocked while Climmons' shot was saved by BGSU goalie, Becca Ison.
Just eight minutes into the second half, BGSU took the 1-0 lead over IPFW. Tracy Togba stole an errant pass and was able to dribble around McFadden to find the back of the net for the first goal of the match.
Junior Lisa Underwood nearly tied the match for the Mastodons at the 59:42 mark, but Ison saved her shot. Just a minute later, IPFW had another scoring opportunity off of a header by junior Danielle Bishop, but the shot went wide.
The Falcons continued to look for insurance goals but McFadden continued to guard the net, recording two more saves.
With three minutes left in the match, Bishop almost had the equalizer but Ison came up with another save for the Falcon's 1-0 win.
IPFW had a total of eight shots, with three on goal, while BGSU had 12 shots, six on goal. In the aggressive contest, BGSU had 14 fouls while IPFW had 13 and both teams recorded a yellow card.
McFadden recorded five saves in the 90 minutes while Bishop and Underwood had three shots and one shot on goal each.
The Mastodons will return home to the Hefner Soccer Complex after being on the road for the past five matches when they face Ball State on Sunday at 7 p.m.
