Women’s Golf Sets Season Best at Summit League Championship

PRIMM, Nev. - In the first day of the Summit League Championship, the IPFW women's golf team posted a two-round total of 635 (316-319) for their best start at the tournament in the program's history at the Primm Valley Golf Club's Lake Course in Primm, Nev., for seventh place.
The 635 team total is the lowest two-round total of the season and ranks second in the program's overall record. Each Mastodon posted their best rounds this season, thus far.
Oral Roberts leads the 10-team field with 611 (297-314) while UMKC is in second place after posting a team total of 617 (308-309). North Dakota State is in third place with 619 (306-313) and host school, Southern Utah, is close behind in fourth place with 620 (308-312). Tied for fifth place after day one with a score of 624 are IUPUI (301-323) and Western Illinois (300-324).
Tied for 10th place, freshman Ashton Taft carded an 81 during her first round, followed by her career-low of 72 in the second round, which is the lowest round for a Mastodon at the Summit League Championship. Taft's 18-hole total of 72 is close to the top in the program, just one stroke behind the record of 71.
In a 22nd place tie, freshman Allison Curtis fired a 36-hole total of 14-over 158 (77-81). Her first round score of 77 sets her career low, while junior Alyssa Turney finished the day one stroke behind Curtis. Turney posted her career low of 77 followed by an 82 to stand in tie for 24th place.
Sophomores Maggie Talbert and Taylor Lamphier posted their best 36-hole scores of the season. Talbert stands tied for 38th place with 165 (81-84) while Lamphier carded a 172 (87-85) for 48th place.
The Mastodons will return to action in the third and final round of the Summit League Championship tomorrow.
