Women's Golf Closes in 13th at Chicago State Tournament

CHICAGO, Ill. - The IPFW women's golf team closed out the 2012 Cougar Golf Classic with a 13th place finish with a final-round 348.
Indiana State brought home the team title with a two-day score of 631, with Valparaiso and IUPUI tied for second with 635. Cleveland State (637), Northern Illinois (638), Loyola (640), Chicago State (644), Texas-Pan American (649), Eastern Illinois (656), North Dakota State (660), SIU Edwardsville (665), and Lewis (671) all finished ahead of the 'Dons (673), while UIC (676) and Green Bay (684) finished behind the squad.
Ashton Taft led the scoring players for IPFW in the second round with an 86, as the scoring four for IPFW (Taft, Allison Curtis, Taylor Lamphier, and Alyssa Turney) were seperated by just two strokes. Curtis and Lamphier shot matching 87's, while Turney carded a final-round score of 88. Brenna Sherwood shot a 91 on the final day.
The lowest score for IPFW on the final day; however, came from individual Sydney Bailey, who carded a second-round 85, two strokes better than anyone else on the IPFW squad.
The squad returns to the course next weekend to compete at the SIU Edwardsville Intercollegiate at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, Illinois.
