Hyde Earns Academic All-America Second Team Honors

TOWSON, Md. – Junior Amanda Hyde has been recognized as a Capital One Academic All-America Women's Basketball Division I Second Team selection as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, Feb. 21.
The Capital One Academic All-America Women's Basketball Division I Second Team is comprised of senior Caroline Durbin of New Mexico, senior Ashley Eide of South Dakota State, junior Sarah Hansen of Florida Gulf Coast, junior Amanda Hyde of IPFW, junior Rachel Tecca of Akron and junior Alli Williams of Saint Francis (Pa.).
Hyde holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average in mathematics teaching. She also leads the Summit League with a scoring average of 19.0. The junior shoots 45 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc. She is an all-around player that also chips in with 4.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest.
Earlier this season, Hyde scored 43 points in a road game at Southern Illinois. The 43 points placed her in a tie for second all-time in Summit League history, and also tied the IPFW school record for most points in a game. 43 points also puts Hyde in a tie for the second highest single-game scoring total in NCAA Division I this season.
Hyde has scored 20 or more points in 11 games this year and has led the team in scoring 18 times. She has scored in double figures in 22 of 25 games and is also one of the best free throw shooters in the country hitting 86 percent from the charity stripe.
Hyde has been named Summit League Player of the Week on two occasions. The first honor came on Dec. 3 when she averaged 27 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals per game. The second award came on Dec. 31 when scored 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, four assists and 2.5 steals for the week Dec. 24-30.
Hyde is closing in on the 1,000 career point mark as she jumped up to 925 after scoring 23 points most recently vs. South Dakota. She is trying to become the first Mastodon since Johnna Lewis-Carlisle to lead the Summit League in scoring. Lewis-Carlisle last accomplished the feat in 2007-08.
