'Dons With Best Championship Finish, Taft Places Fourth Overall

KELLER, Texas - The IPFW women's golf team wrapped up The Summit League Championship with its best finish in program history, placing sixth with a three-day score of 986.
The Mastodons Ashton Taft was named to the All-Tournament team finishing in fourth place - the best individual finish ever by a Mastodon golfer in The Summit League Championship - with a score of 233.
Hosted at the par-72 Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club, the tournament was played at 6,119 yards. Denver won the team title with a tournament total 887. The Pioneers Tonje Daffinrud also won the individual title with a 54-hole score of 3-over-par 219.
Taft carded back-to-back birdies on Nos. 7 and 8 to finish the front nine at 1-under-par and close out the round at 2-over-par 74. Taft, who began the day in a tie for 11th, was one of only three golfers to shoot a 74 or better in the final round and one of six golfers the entire tournament to shoot 74 or below in a single round.
Brenna Sherwood closed out the week with an 83 to finish in a tie for 22nd with a 249 for the tournament. Allison Curtis shot an 86 in the final round to stand alone in 27th place with a three-day total of 252.
Playing in the final round of her collegiate career, Taylor Lamphier carded a 91 for the day to finish tied with teammate Sydney Bailey in 33rd place with a 263. Bailey finished her season with an 86 for the final round.
