Mastodons Fall to Coyotes on Senior Day
11/1/2015 3:31:00 PM | Women's Soccer
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Kiley Dunning's double-digit saves were not enough as the IPFW women's soccer team fell to South Dakota 2-0 on Sunday afternoon following Senior Day festivities.
A pair of first half goals from USD's Corey Strang were all that was needed against the Mastodons in the season finale for the Blue and White. Strang opened the South Dakota scoring in the 35th minute after receiving a centering pass from Sammie Villwock and scoring from 10 yards out. Strang would cap her day after earning a goal on a penalty kick in the 39th minute.
Dunning earned 12 saves for the 'Dons, marking the fifth time this season she has earned double-digit saves. Additionally, Dunning has made at least five saves on 14 different occasions throughout the season. Entering the weekend, Dunning was tied for fourth nationally in NCAA Division I women's soccer for most saves (125) and tied for 10th in saves per game (6.94). Additionally, Dunning leads the Summit League in both categories.
Prior to the match, IPFW honored six seniors in Rahcel Good, Kelsie Carlson, Erin Gill, Brooke Bishir, Tessa Edwards, and student assistant coach Krysta Hedrick as a part of Senior Day. The group of seniors helped lead the Mastodons to the 2013 Summit League Semifinals and 2012 Summit League Championship, while helping the team break the program record for longest-consecutive unbeaten streak (six matches) earlier this season.
