Mastodons Finish Season Ninth at Summit League Championship

SEASIDE, Calif. - The 2014-15 IPFW women's golf season came to a close as the Mastodons finished ninth at the Summit League Championship with a three-day score of 1,030. Three IPFW seniors concluded their careers at the tournament, Allison Curtis, Sydney Bailey, and Ashton Taft.
Hosted at the par-72 Bayonet Golf Course, the final round was played at 6,012 yards. Denver captured the team title by 18 strokes over Oral Roberts with a score of 926. Elyse Smidinger of Denver also took home the individual championship by two strokes over runner-up Paola Aviles of Oral Roberts.
Curtis shot an 85 for the final round of her collegiate career, finishing the tournament with a 247 to tie for 22nd place. She finished the Summit League Championship with the fourth-best average on par-3 holes among the field. Sydney Bailey capped off her IPFW career with a 93 on the final day to finish at 264 and tie for 41st overall. Rounding out the senior class for the Mastodons, Ashton Taft tied for the team lead with seven pars on the final day to finish the 54-hole tournament in 44th place with a score of 271.
Freshman Monica Dorner led the Mastodons in the final round, shooting an 84. She recorded back-to-back birdies on the par-4, 350-yard No. 9, and No. 10, a 462-yard par-5. Dorner finished the tournament 39th with a three-day score of 262. Brenna Sherwood wrapped up her season with an 88 that included seven pars to finish 40th in the Summit League with a final total of 263.
