FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- IPFW Director of Athletics Kelley Hartley Hutton has been appointed to a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee. The 10-member committee oversees, among other things, the selection, seeding and bracketing for the annual NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship. Hartley Hutton's term will begin September 1 and continue through August 31, 2020.
"I'm excited and honored to be selected to the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee and appreciate the Summit League's nomination," said Hartley Hutton. "I am honored to be able to give back to the sport I love and will bring the perspective of an administrator, former coach and student-athlete. I look forward to working with committee members to continue to advance NCAA Women's Volleyball and build on a sport which already provides an outstanding student-athlete and fan experience."
Hartley Hutton is entering her third year as the director of athletics at IPFW during 2016-17 after 15 seasons as head coach of the women's volleyball team (1999-2013), attaining a program-record 314 wins. She served as the Mastodons Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and Associate Athletic Director for 12 years, as well.
"This is terrific recognition for IPFW and our athletics department," said Chancellor Vicky L. Carwein. "This appointment recognizes both Kelley's leadership and her commitment to the student-athlete experience on a national scope."
Hartley Hutton led the women's volleyball program to Summit League Tournament Championships and NCAA Tournament berths in 2009 and 2012. She guided the program to an overall record of 314-162, including 13 winning seasons, two 25-win seasons, 11 20-win seasons, seven consecutive Summit League Tournament appearances (2007-13) and four league tournament championship matches (2007, 2009, 2010, 2012).
A native of Tecumseh, Michigan, Hartley Hutton graduated with a B.A. in public relations from the University of Toledo in 1991. She played four years with the Rockets, serving as team captain during her junior and senior seasons. Hartley Hutton earned an M.S. in sport administration from Bowling Green State University in 1993 while completing an internship and working full-time at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) office.
Kelley and her husband, Craig Hutton, reside in Fort Wayne with their daughter, Kennedy.
