Rightnowar, Johnson and Jaqua Earn Double-Doubles in Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne women's volleyball team dropped its season opener to Murray State 3-1 (13-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-15) during the first day of the Fort Wayne Invitational Sponsored by Hyatt Place.
The Mastodons were led by a trio of double-doubles from Nicole Rightnowar, Somer Johnson and Madison Jaqua. Johnson and Rightnowar led the team with 12 kills to go along with 14 and 10 digs, respectively. Jaqua dished out a team-high 37 assists and added 11 digs. Defensively, Olivia Hahn led the 'Dons with 24 digs while Natalie Seiler paced the team with eight blocks. Victoria Mills finished with a career-high 13 digs.
Fort Wayne scored four straight points to begin the match and never looked back in the set. The Mastodons held the Racers to a -.083 hitting percentage in the first set.
The second set saw 11 tie scores and four lead changes before Murray State closed out the frame by winning the final two points. Fort Wayne jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the third set, but the Racers finished the set with a 7-3 run.
Murray State took a 5-1 advantage to begin final set that the 'Dons were unable to overcome down the stretch.
The Mastodons return to action for the final day of the Fort Wayne Invitational Sponsored by Hyatt Place on August 27 with a pair of matches against Youngstown State (12:30 p.m.) and Ball State (7 p.m.).
