Seiler Puts Up Season-High Numbers in Loss to Seawolves

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Four players finished in double-digit kills for the Fort Wayne women's volleyball team, but it was not enough as the Mastodons fell in five sets to Stony Brook 3-2 (21-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-15, 16-14).
The 'Dons were led by Natalie Seiler with a season-high 14 kills and nine blocks, while hitting a season-high .500. Somer Johnson and Lauren Hoffman each added 13 kills. Johnson also tallied her 1,000th career kill in the match. Nicole Rightnowar earned her fourth straight double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs to go along with five blocks. Madison Jaqua led the team with 33 assists on the day.
As a team, Fort Wayne tied a season-high with eight aces and 13 blocks.
Trailing 11-9 in the first set, the Mastodons caught fire and used a 10-3 run to take the lead before going on to win the set. The 'Dons took the second set in similar fashion. Trailing 15-13, Fort Wayne closed out the frame with a 12-3 advantage.
Leading early in the third, a four-point run by Stony Brook put them out in front for good. A six-point run in the fourth set put the Seawolves into the lead and force a fifth set. The Mastodons jumped out in front in the fifth, but Stony Brook closed out the match on a 5-1 run to end the match.
Rightnowar was named to the All-Tournament team for her performances over the weekend.
Fort Wayne opens the Summit League season when it travels to Omaha for an 8 pm. ET match on Sept. 23.
